Postgraduate Residency Programs

The Hemet Global Medical Center’s Postgraduate Residency Programs provide physician residents with a comprehensive training program that encompasses cognitive and procedural clinical education in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Our Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited programs include: Internal Medicine Residency Program, Family Medicine Residency Program, Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program, and the Transitional Year Internship Program.

INTERNAL MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAM

The goal of our Internal Medicine Residency Program is to train and educate residents to be competent and compassionate practitioners in the core knowledge and skills of internal medicine. Our hope is to improve the health of the people in California and, especially, to serve Riverside County by training a diverse workforce of physicians that will improve the health of the medically underserved.

FAMILY MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAM

The goal of our Family Medicine Residency Program is to train competent, compassionate physicians who are well versed in the care of underserved communities while also striving to focus on Family Medicine-Centered education.  While in our 36-month program, residents will have the opportunity to treat patients that are part of a diverse patient population and be taught by physicians who are experts in their field.

DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGY RESIDENCY PROGRAM

The goal of our Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Hemet Global Medical Center is to prepare our residents to begin the safe, unsupervised practice of radiology and meet the American Board of Radiology certification requirements by providing a comprehensive and advanced radiology program. We currently have three ACGME-approved spots available each year.

TRANSITIONAL YEAR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Transitional Year Internship Program is a one year training experience that allows interns to fulfill the clinical prerequisite for specialty training. All residents in the transitional year program will work in collaboration with our categorical internal medicine, family medicine, and diagnostic radiology residency programs. Together with attending physicians, residents will manage some of the Inland Empire’s most underserved and ethnically diverse patient populations.

RESEARCH

Scholarly activity is an integral part of the postgraduate residency programs at Hemet Global Medical Center. We encourage residents to get involved in research. Residents have access to a wide variety of research, quality improvement projects, and committees at HGMC and our affiliated sites, some of which have made significant changes in the day-to-day of the hospital.  Resident travel to present their research at conferences is fully funded by the program. We support our residents in furthering their careers, whether it be in primary care or in seeking specialized fellowship opportunities. We train our residents to graduate from our program ready for independent practice.
